This beautiful old bench was in dire need of leg repair.

Today, I have been working on repairing the legs and stretcher on this beautiful old antique bench.  As like many old furniture that I see, previous repairs had been attempted on this bench. In this case, a polyurethane glue had been liberally used. When the joint broke for a second time, it shattered the wood, breaking just outside the polyurethane glue joint. I know people like this type of glue, but for furniture such as this bench, I am not a fan.  In this case, the repair becomes a bit of a challenge as you do not want to lose all the existing wood of the leg, including the piece that is still firmly glued into the joint. In all total, there were four joints to re-set with one needing to be pinned.  Additionally, the screw hole buttons were missing on the back rail so I will be replacing them as well.
